The Story
The “Lion of Judah” (often slightly misspelled as “Sudah”) is a prominent biblical and cultural symbol originating from the Hebrew Bible. It primarily represents strength, royalty, and authority.
In Rastafarianism, the Lion of Judah is a central figure. It represents Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, who was from the Solomonic dynasty (a lineage tracing back to King Solomon and the Tribe of Judah). To Rastas, Selassie is viewed as the messiah, and the lion symbolizes African sovereignty and divinity.
The Idea
The idea directly uses the lion in Lion of Sudah, the “S” in Sudah Nation, and, drawn from the same symbolism the name carries, the crown. The crown isn't added for effect; it comes from what the Lion of Judah already means: royalty, authority, divinity. The lion is the name made visible. The “S” makes it Sudah's own. Together they form a mark where every element has a reason to be there.
